LIMA, July 12 (Xinhua) -- The 64th Billiard World Cup kicked off here on Tuesday with the attendance of 48 players from 25 countries and regions.
The World Cup is played in the Military Circle of Jesus Maria district in Lima and will run to July 16.
The opening ceremony was attended by president of the Peruvian Billiard Federation Miguel Lora and chief of the Peruvian Institute of Sports Arturo Woodman.
Among the players are those in the top 20 places of the world ranking from the Billiard World Union.
The arbitrage technical director, Jose Quetglas said that in the first phase there will be 16 groups of three players, each one.
The players in first place will get a ticket for the nest round and so on, till reaching the final, with matches of five sets and 17 cannons each one with 50 seconds of interval to execute each play.
This is the third time for Peru to host the Billiard World Cup.
